About me

A warm, understanding space to talk and be heard

I’m Alison Wenham – a fully qualified integrative counsellor with 14 years of experience supporting adults and young people through life’s challenges. My work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and understood.

Counselling is not about judgement – it’s about creating a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly, explore your feelings, and begin to make sense of your experiences. Whether you are facing stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties or simply feeling lost, I’m here to help you find a way forward.

My approach to counselling

I practise integrative counselling, which means I draw from a range of approaches – including humanistic counselling, CBT, psychodynamic therapy and brief focused counselling – to find the best fit for you as an individual. Rather than asking you to adapt to a set method, I adapt my approach to your needs, personality and goals.

Together, we will work on building your self-awareness so you can understand the root causes of what you are going through. From there, we can explore strategies, develop new skills, and create positive, lasting change. My aim is to help you build resilience, manage your emotions and feel more in control of your life.

A little more about me

Before becoming a counsellor, I was a full-time mum to my two children. I retrained in counselling after taking time away from work to raise my family – a decision that shaped both my career and my perspective on life. Over the years, I’ve seen first-hand how small steps in therapy can lead to profound changes.

Outside of my professional life, I value family time, personal growth and the little moments that bring joy and connection. These values shape the way I work – with empathy, honesty and genuine care for the people I support.

If you’re considering counselling, please know this – you do not have to face your challenges alone. Together, we can work towards understanding, healing and hope.
